Carlos Ortega

Student and creator of audiovisual content

I have just finished my degree in Film, Television and Media Studies at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and I am currently waiting to start a master program in the United States thanks to the Fulbright scholarship. Since I was a child I have been fascinated by the world of cinema and audiovisuals and, since high school, I have oriented my training towards it, looking for a balance between theoretical and practical knowledge. Therefore, I have complemented my university studies with different jobs in different sectors of the industry.

Experience in the audiovisual field

Over the years I have participated in several projects. I can highlight my collaboration with the film production company Tus Ojos, between 2018 and 2020, in two feature films and a short film: Semillas de Alegría (2018), Territorio Humano (2019) and Victoria 2030 (2020), with work in the production team and assistant directing.

At the beginning of 2021, I joined the audiovisual department of the Ilustre Colegio de Médicos de Madrid as part of my university internship, a relationship that I have extended with a paid internship contract until May 2021. Among the functions I have developed are the realization of streaming, editing and editing of pieces and videos, recording interviews and reports or the design of audiovisual solutions for the rooms and spaces of the College.

I have participated in other shootings, such as Match (2021) by Eduardo Cardoso, a short film for the Notodofilmfestival that can be seen here. My functions have always been mainly linked to the directing area.

My creative and artistic concerns

Since I was a child I have felt a strong attraction for cinema and the audiovisual and performing arts. At the age of 8 I shot my first short film with some dolls and using the stop motion technique. Since then, I have not stopped creating and getting into the audiovisual arts in different ways. For many years I also explored theater and dramaturgy, being Manuel Galiana one of my acting teachers.

In recent years I have recorded some projects, both inside and outside the university. Some of them can be seen in the portfolio section of the web. I have made many other small pieces to support works, exhibitions or projects not related to audiovisuals that, without having special technical and artistic value, have allowed me to reflect on the power of images and sounds to convey ideas and emotions. I keep in my memory with special affection the video of my high school graduation, a video clip that I directed, in which all my classmates participated, was screened before parents and students and later had a great reception on the Internet. You can see it here.

In short, my whole life has revolved around the audiovisual, because my vision has always tended to transform things into images, stories and narratives that can be transferred to a screen.
